P120,000 bounty offered for killer of neigbor in Taytay, Rizal
The provincial government of Rizal and the police have put up a total of P120,000 bounty for the arrest of the man who shot his neighbor to death in Taytay, Rizal, on Saturday, June 15.
Rizal Governor Nina Ynares said on Friday, June 21, that she would add P100,000 to the initial P20,000 cash reward offered by the Rizal-Philippine National Police (PNP) and TayTay Police for the arrest of the suspect identified as alias Armiel.
Ynares said that they do not tolerate any form of violence in Rizal and encouraged the public to report any information about the suspect's whereabouts to Rizal Police at 0917-163-3556.
In closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from Taytay Police, the suspect was seen walking in Sitio Lumang Ilog, Barangay San Juan, at around 9:49 p.m. on Saturday.
Suddenly, a gunshot was heard, and the footage showed the victim lying on the ground.
Witnesses said that the suspect shot the victim four times in the head and body, resulting in his immediate death.
In a media interview, authorities said that the victim and the suspect had a long-standing conflict.
“May mga previous na silang away na kung saan nilusob ni [suspek] ang bahay ni [biktima] at binato pa ng teargas 'yung bahay, nagkaroon ng pananakit sa isa't-isa (They had previous altercations wherein the suspect attacked the victim's house and even threw teargas into the house, injuring each other),” police said.
“Two weeks ago nagkaroon ng pananaga. Si [suspek] ay tinaga si biktima. May latest din silang hindi pagkakasunduan kung saan ay sinita ng biktima ang kapatid ng suspek na nakamotorsiklo at sinasabi ngang 'yung mga anak niya [biktima] ay muntikang masagasaan daw (Two weeks ago, the suspect hacked the victim. They also had a recent conflict wherein the victim confronted the suspect's sibling, who was on a motorcycle, claiming that he almost hit his children)," police added.
Ynares said the police are now conducting a manhunt operation against the suspect.
