Pagdanganan trails leaders by 6; Ardina misses cut in KPMG Women's PGA Championship

The 2020 Tokyo Olympian struggled at the Sahalee Country Club by fumbling with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 8^th against five birdies for a two-round total of 144, six strokes behind co-leaders Sarah Schemelzel and Amy Yang.

Pagdanganan, who is poised to make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics, actually started the day four shots behind overnight leader Lexi Thompson with a 72 but couldn’t muster enough strength to keep her closer to the top leaderboard.

However, the same couldn’t be said for Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso and Dottie Ardina.

Saso was far from her fiery form that won her the US Women’s Open title recently, barely making the cut after stumbling to a 75 for a 149 at joint 64^th.

She faltered with a double-bogey on the par-5 second hole and tried to recover with three birdies against a lone bogey on the next thirteen holes, only to stagger with three straight bogeys on her last three holes.

Ardina, for her part, just couldn’t get anything going, limping home with a disappointing 78 for 153 to miss the cut. She had an opening-round 75.

Meanwhile, Schmelzel fired a sizzling 67 for 138 that catapulted her from a tie for 20th to a share of lead with Yang, who shot a 68.
