Foreigner dies as motorcycle rams truck in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY – A foreigner was killed after he was hit by a motorcycle and run over by a truck on Saturday on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay 99 Diit here.

Police said a motorcycle driven by another foreigner hit an electrical post on the side of the road and crashed into a 68-year-old man, Rod, who was standing on the road.

The motorcycle rammed a parked motorcycle owned by the fatality. The fatality and his motorcycle went under the wing van, registered to a company based in Cainta, Rizal, and driven by Melchor, 41.

The victim died on the spot due to serious injuries. The other foreign national left the area after the incident.

Rod was taken to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center here.

Melchor and the two vehicles were brought to Tacloban City Police Station 2 for documentation and proper disposition.

Police are conducting further investigation to ascertain the nationalities of the two foreigners.
