MPTC breaks ground on P6.3-billion expressway projects
Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has begun the construction of two expressway projects designed to alleviate traffic congestion in southern Manila.
President Marcos presided over the groundbreaking ceremony alongside MPTC executives for the P2.2 billion Cavitex-Calax Link and the P4.1 billion Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B.
The Cavitex-Calax Link, spanning 1.3 km with 2x2 lanes, will integrate MPTC's toll road networks in the south, including the Cavitex and the ongoing Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)
Raul Ignacio, Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) president and general manager, said the target completion date for the CCLink is August next year, aligning with the full operations of CALAX.
Moreover, the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B, covering a distance of two km to connect Cavitex Paranaque in the West and C5 Road Taguig in the East, is expected to be finished by August 2025, serving an estimated 8,000 motorists daily.
Once operational, the Cavitex C5 Link is projected to benefit an average of 50,000 motorists every day, reducing travel times to Taguig and Pasay by 30 to 45 minutes and aiding in the decongestion of key routes like EDSA, MIA Road, and Roxas Boulevard.
Furthermore, the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange is now open to the public, offering motorists a limited-time opportunity to use this segment for free.
The recently unveiled Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2, a 1.9 km, 2x3 lane expressway connecting Cavitex R1 (Coastal Road) from Paranaque Toll Plaza to Sucat via the R-1 Interchange, is expected to provide approximately 16,000 motorists with a commute 10 minutes between Cavitex and Sucat Road in both directions.
“We have always been believers in the potential of PPPs and we thank his Excellency President Marcos for his prudent governance as well as members of his cabinet who have made it easy to undertake monumental projects in collaboration with the government, “ Manuel V. Pangilinan, MPTC chairman said.
“We are confident that our continued collaboration will help the Filipino people welcome even more success, and ultimately give rise to a nation that is more competitive, inclusive and united-one ew can be proud to bequeath for future generations,” he added.
Aside from Cavitex and Calax, MPTC also holds concession rights for North Luzon Expressway, NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway, Cebu Cordova Expressway and toll road projects in Indonesia.
