“You always take selfies during your aid distribution, and if not selfies, my father’s image gets used for your publicity,” said Mayor Duterte in a local dialect on his Facebook account.

“Don’t you have any personal stand in politics?” Mayor Duterte said as he urged the senator to read his caption and “reflect on whether he was actually doing what he had been saying.”

The mayor concluded his caption by quoting Italian poet Dante Alighieri who said: “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”

Mayor Duterte threw the remark following Go’s response to his statement against him reaffirming his support for the Duterte family and the people of Davao.

Speaking before a crowd in a prayer rally in Pampanga, Mayor Duterte criticized Go for being mum over the issues hounding Davao City, including the removal of police officers over the raid at Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

“Bong Go, you are my friend. If I had known that things would turn out like this, the people of Davao voted for you, we voted for you; I wish I hadn’t (voted for you),” he said.

Go said in his photo caption with the elder Duterte on his official Facebook page that there’s always a time for everything and that this is the time to prioritize the welfare of Filipinos.

The senator added that he only follows what FPRRD has been telling him before, which is to do what is right, fulfill his duty, and put the interests of Filipinos first.

“My family is from Batangas. I also grew up in Metro Manila. I am also a Bisaya. I am considered an adopted son by many municipalities, cities, and provinces. My loyalty is and will always be with the Filipino people,” he said.

Go, who expressed empathy for Mayor Duterte’s sentiment, assured everyone that he would continue to care for and serve the Filipino people. He said he will keep fighting for the rights of every Filipino.

The senator went live on Facebook to share his visit with the former Chief Executive in Davao City to dispel rumors that the elder Duterte had died.
