The Macros administration lost a "very capable" public servant with the recent resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte as Deparment of Education (DepEd) secretary.

Thus, said Davao del Norte 1st district Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, who highlighted in a statement Friday, June 21 the sheer popularity of the lady official, which even upstaged Marcos.

“Surveys from reputable sources are clear. VP Sara received the most votes in the 2022 national elections, even higher than President Marcos. And she is the most trusted government official among the cabinet. She continues to gain support of the people," Alvarerz, a former House Speaker, said.

"And that’s probably why many politikos have issues against her--because she is a true servant of the people and a true leader of the nation’s interests. The Marcos Cabinet lost a very capable public servant,” he stated.

Marcos received over 31 mIllion votes, while Duterte garnered over 32 million.

On Wednesday, June 19, Vice President Duterte personally tendered her resignation as DepEd chief in Malacañang. She served at the helm of the agency for two years.

She is the daughter of administration critic and former president, Rodrigo Duterte.

Alvarez and the elder Duterte are long-time friends.
