Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado might be returning to ONE Championship having experienced the worst stretch of his career, but he’s confident that he can end his three fight losing skid.

Miado takes on No. 4-ranked strawweight MMA contender Hiroba Minowa at ONE Fight Night 23 on July 6 inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Things haven’t gone well for “The Jaguar” during his past few fights. In fact, he was submitted in just under a round by Keito Yamakita in his last outing, and it’s a fight that Miado looks to leave behind.

“Looking at my previous fight, I’ve learned to be more confident with my strikes. I shouldn’t really think twice. I have to let my game flow. I have to tag him early so that he’ll be the one thinking twice each time he shoots the moment he feels my power,” he said.

“Back then, I was going through some personal stuff, but I wouldn’t want to dwell on that. That isn’t an excuse. Now I’m focused. I’m not gonna hold back. I’m gonna come in confident.”

He definitely needs to not second guess himself, especially since the odds don't favor the Filipino in this contest.

While Miado’s been brilliant against strikers, he hasn’t had the same success against wrestlers and grapplers, and Minowa certainly fits the mold of “The Jaguar’s” past tormentors.

But despite his previous losses against similar fighters, Miado remains unfazed.

“Facing yet another wrestler is fine by me. I want to prove that my ground game is improving and I can hang with any wrestler,” he said.

Better prepared and with a fresher mindset, Miado knows that he’s bound for a comeback win, something he plans to take against Minowa.

“This fight won’t reach the decision, and I plan to end [it] by the end of the first round. You know how I fight, I always fight to finish,” Miado said.

“I see it ending near the end of the first round or early in the second. I’ll be more aggressive, I won’t be sitting back and waiting.”
