Chiang Mai City in Thailand was No. 1 with 72.5 and Singapore is third with 70.8.

Penang City, Malaysia; Hanoi, Vietnam; Makati City, Philippines; Bangkok, Thailand; Iloilo City, Philippines; Pattaya, Thailand; and Bali, Indonesia ranked fourth to tenth.

The safety index measures the general crime levels in a city or country. To ensure statistical reliability, cities are chosen for inclusion based on having a minimum number of contributors.

Numbeo Southeast Asia said Manila and Quezon City had a 65.4 and 63.2 crime index, respectively. Third and fourth were Kuala Lumpur and Klang in Malaysia.

Phnom Penh City, Cambodia; Johor Bahru, Malaysia; Jakarta, Indonesia; Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; Cebu City in the Philippines; and Petaling Jaya in Malaysia ranked from fifth to tenth, respectively.

The material was gathered from the surveys hosted on Numbeo’s website, using questionnaires structured similarly to those in many scientific and government surveys. The index is calculated from 0 to 100.

The Police Regional Office-11 welcomed the result of the survey. It said that such a positive outcome will uplift the morale and boost the spirit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) here.

“This would motivate them to continue their mandate of serving and protecting the people of Davao City and the entire Davao region,” said the PRO-11, who thanked those who participated in the survey.

PRO-11, encouraging the community to continue supporting the “Pulis Dabawenyo” in upholding the law, reducing, and preventing crimes, vowed to keep their efforts amid the challenges faced by the organization.

Data obtained from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said total crime incidents from January to May 2024 dropped to 1,759, a significant 28.47 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

The DCPO noted violations of special laws declined during this period and vowed to serve with utmost sincerity and dedication to ensure this city’s safety and security.
