SM's rewards system doubles membership to 10 million

SM Advantage Card (SMAC), the country’s biggest retail rewards system, doubled its loyalty base from five million in 2020 to reaching over 10 million members to date as it continues to reach more customers. 

In a statement, SM Investments Corporation said it has been reinforcing its commitment to customers with the continuous enhancements to SMAC.

Committed to provide a smarter, more rewarding shopping experience for customers, SM is focusing on customer-centric innovation through SMAC, to deliver a suite of benefits tailored to enhance convenience, savings, and overall satisfaction. 

Launched in 2002, SMAC has offered its members an unparalleled shopping experience by fostering a strong community for more than 20 years with its network having growth to over 4,000 partner stores nationwide.

Outside of the brands under SM Retail, SMAC has also forged partnerships with other brands including Shell, Mabuhay Miles, Globe Rewards, and PLDT Home Rewards.

SM’s loyalty program has been paving the way for smarter shopping in the country. Through the SMAC app, members can track their spending, easily access their points, which are good as cash, and get updates on exclusive discounts and perks. 

“SMAC is more than just points and exclusive offers. We enable our members to shop smarter. With SMAC, they will have access to information that will equip them to make smarter purchases,” shared SMAC Chief Operating Officer Kevin Hartigan-Go. 

Tracing their history from economic crises, loyalty programs have become a way for companies and the consuming public to strengthen their relationship, going beyond transactions and increasing the value exchange between them. 

Defined as providing customers with tools that allow them to shop faster and smarter, smart retailing has been dominating global retail businesses in the past few years as seen by how customers become more thoughtful in spending their money.
