Philippines lauds UN Security Council for Gaza ceasefire resolution

The Philippines has commended the United Nations Security Council for crafting a resolution that underscores the urgent need to address the escalating crisis in Gaza.

In a statement on Thursday, June 20, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the resolution reaffirms the international community’s commitment to upholding peace and stability in the region.

"The Philippines reiterates its call for an immediate ceasefire, the safe release of hostages, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza," the DFA stated.

"The prompt implementation of the measures is imperative to alleviate the suffering of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire," it stressed.

The Philippine Government also reiterated that it will continue to support efforts for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

"The Philippines remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza," the Philippines said through the DFA.

"The country stands ready to contribute to initiatives that foster stability, security, and peace in the region," it added.
