NAIA staff finds socks filled with US dollar bills amounting to P1.1 million

An airport staff found two pairs of socks containing US dollar bills amounting to P1.1 million at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday, June 20.
Rosalinda Cellero, a building attendant at NAIA, was cleaning around NAIA Terminal 3 as part of her chores when she swept the socks under the airport chairs past the immigration counters and Office of Transportation Security (OTS) human x-ray machine past 12 midnight, a report reaching the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) disclosed.
According to the report, Cellero held the socks and felt something inside it. When she searched for the contents of the socks, she found a bunch of US dollar bills.
Cellero reported the incident to her head supervisor and together, they turned over the cash to the lost and found section of the airport.
Based on the inventory of authorities, the two pairs of socks were stuffed with USD18,800 or P1,106,400.
The MIAA called on the owner of the cash to surface and retrieve them along with some proof. The bills were currently placed under the custody of the Airport Police Department (APD).
