DOH cites nationwide decline in pertussis, measles-rubella cases

The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, June 20, reported a decrease in pertussis and measles-rubella cases in the Philippines.

From May 12 to 25, the health department recorded 187 pertussis cases, marking a 38 percent decrease from the 301 cases reported from April 28 to May 11.

Meanwhile, measles-rubella cases also saw a 37 percent drop from May 12 to 25 with 178 cases compared to the 283 cases reported nationwide from April 28 to May 11.
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the DOH monitored 36 measles-rubella cases from May 12 to 25, reflecting a 58 percent decrease from the 86 cases reported from April 28 to May 11.
On May 9, the DOH noted a significant increase in these cases across the country in 2024 compared to 2023.
According to the DOH, the number of cases was "five times higher" compared to the 397 cases recorded during the same period last year
