Security guard shot dead in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A security guard was gunned down in Barangay 37 here on Saturday, June 1.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Benjie Fajardo of Barangay Banago here.

Police Major Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 1, said the victim was walking on his way home from duty when an unidentified person approached and shot him.

The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and head. He was declared dead in a hospital.

Recovered from the crime scene were five empty fired cartridges and a deformed slug of a .9mm caliber firearm.

Bonilla said the victim had been receiving threats recently based on the information they have gathered. 

However, his family and colleagues have no idea what was the threat all about. 

He said they are looking for closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footages in the area to aid them in their investigation.
