Mayor Abby receives recognition from Pampanga for P1 million typhoon aid
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay received a certificate of appreciation from the provincial government of Pampanga for donating P1 million from Makati LGU to support Pampagueños in recovering from the devastating effects of typhoons Egay and Falcon in 2023.

Binay accepted the certificate from Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Meeting held at Kingsborough International Convention Center in Guagua on Friday, May 31.
The mayor said she was happy to be able to spread the love and help other LGUs and their constituents recover from a calamity.
“We are glad to be of help to other local government units severely affected by natural disasters. We are also willing to share our expertise and other available resources to support their recovery efforts and enable them to make the lives of their constituents better,” Binay said.
Earlier this year, Makati extended financial aid worth P47.5 million to 75 disaster-stricken LGUs.
Pampanga and two of its municipalities that were severely affected by tropical cyclones Egay and Falcon each received P1 million from the city.
Binay, together with former president and current Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former Representative Mikey Arroyo, visited the municipalities of Pampanga: Sta. Rita, Porac, Floridablanca, Lubao, and Guagua.
They were warmly welcomed by Mayors Arthur Salalila of Sta. Rita, Jaime Capil of Porac, Darwin Manalansan of Floridablanca, Catalina Cabrera-Bagasina of Sasmuan, and Guagua Vice Mayor Benjamin Lim, Jr., as well as other local officials and employees.
Binay also invited the municipalities to come to Makati for benchmarking activities, underscoring the importance of sharing and learning from each other’s best practices and experiences.
“The increasingly complex and serious challenges we face compel us, local leaders, to band together and fortify our collective strength to build a sustainable future for our people. As a certified resilience hub in Southeast Asia, Makati is ready to collaborate with fellow LGUs to share our tried-and-tested solutions and innovative strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation,” she said.
In 2023, around 23 LGUs and organizations visited the city to learn more about the city's innovative programs for sustainable development, including its public-private partnerships and various programs on healthcare, education, disaster risk reduction and management, gender and development, and tourism promotion, as well as innovations in local legislation.
Binay's administration has further strengthened its sisterhood program through continuous collaboration and knowledge sharing with sister localities.
Since the start of 2024, Makati has already welcomed 16 LGUs from all over the country for benchmarking activities.
