Two men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Chinese teen and demanding ransom in Taguig on June 17.
The victim of the kidnap-for-ransom was a 19-year-old Chinese residing in Manila who positively identified his captors with the help of a witness and social media.

According to the police, the victim met alias Izzy through a messaging app and they agreed to meet at a fast food restaurant in Barangay Tuktukan, Taguig.
The victim was brought by Izzy to his house in Barangay Sta. Ana. Upon arriving at Izzy's house, he told the police that he saw five men who started to beat him up, blindfolded him, and restrained him.
The suspects demanded a ransom of P5 million from the victim’s father in exchange for his son's release. After negotiations, the ransom was reduced to P1.1 million.
The police said the suspects arranged for the ransom to be collected by alias Sean at a mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
After the ransom was paid, the victim was taken to Angono, Rizal, where he was released. The victim reported the incident to the Manila Police who referred the case to the Taguig Police.
A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects, alias Erwin, 30, and alias Richard, 36. A .38-caliber revolver with five live rounds was also recovered.
The victim positively identified the two suspects along with five others who remain at large.
The operation was overseen by Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete and Lt. Col. Rossel Icejas of the Anti-Kidnapping Action Team Luzon Field Unit.
A complaint for violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (kidnapping and serious illegal detention), and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) was filed against the suspects before the Taguig City Prosecutor's Office through an e-inquest conducted by Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Michael Edquilag on June 18.
The SPD has launched a manhunt operation against the remaining suspects.
