1 dead, 5 hurt in truck-van collision in Quezon


ATIMONAN, Quezon – A 50-year-old driver was killed and five individuals were injured in a collision between a truck and a passenger van in Barangay Tinandog, this town, on Wednesday afternoon, June 19.

Police identified the fatality as Jaime Alecaño, 50, of Lope de Vega, Northern Samar.

The truck with license plates  CBS4543 driven by Conrado Seguin dela Cruz Jr., 41, overtook a vehicle and slid due to the wet road when it returned to its lane.

It rotated 360 degrees twice and smashed onto the oncoming van with license plates EAF9649 which ended up on the shoulder. 

Alecaño and five van passengers were injured – Joselito Navarro, 39; Princess, 12; Maryjane Piamonte, 30; Madison, 11-month-old, and Perfecta Zamora Lagrimas, 64. 

They were taken to a hospital where they are recuperating and Alecaño was declared dead.

A complaint was filed against Dela Cruz.
