PAGASA warns of continued rains, thunderstorms due to 'habagat'
The southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” is expected to continue to bring rain showers and thunderstorms across parts of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, June 19.
Palawan and Mindanao will have cloudy weather with scattered monsoon rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that these areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Moreover, the habagat is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.
In other parts of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public about potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
