Overtaking dump truck hits motorcycle, kills mother and daughter
A mother and her daughter were killed while a two-year-old child remains in critical condition when the motorcycle they were riding in was accidentally hit by a 10-wheeler truck along Gen. Alejo Santos Highway, Angat, Bulacan on Monday, June 17.
Police identified the two fatalities as Rosemarie de Leon, 24, and her daughter Princess, 7, of Sitio Gulod, Barangay Niugan, Angat, Bulacan. Rosemarie's youngest child, Angel, 2, remains in critical condition at a hospital.
Initial investigation conducted by the Angat police said that while the Rusi motorcycle was traversing the stretch of the highway at around 9:30a.m., the truck suddenly overtook and hit the motorcycle causing it to overturn.
Due to the force of the impact, the victims were thrown onto the pavement of the highway.
They were rushed to Castro Medical Hospital in Baliuag City but were pronounced dead on arrival due to severe head injuries. Angel, meanwhile, was given immediate medical attention at the hospital.
The driver of the dump truck with license plate ASA 9255 was identified as Paulino de Leon, 45, of Payumo Street, Brgy. Bangkal, Norzagaray, Bulacan.
