Body of missing 10-year-old boy fished out of Bulacan river
The body of a boy who was reported missing several days ago was fished out of a river in Barangay San Agustin, San Miguel, Bulacan last Saturday, June 15.
In a report sent to Lt. Col. Jacquiline Puapo, Bulacan police director, the boy was identified as Rodney de Leon, 10, of Barangay Tigpalas, San Miguel.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was swimming in the river of Sitio Apalit, Brgy Tigpalas with two other young friends at around 2:00 p.m. on June 13.
The three reportedly got stuck in the deep part of the river until De Leon sank and was no longer seen.
It was said that out of fear, De Leon's companion did not immediately inform the family of the victim that Rodney had drowned. He was reported missing on social media.
At around 8:13 a.m. on Saturday, residents saw a corpse floating in the river which got stuck in a hanging bamboo in San Agustin River. The boy's relatives later identified the body as that of the missing Rodney.
