Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan presiding justice posts open for applications, recommendations

The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has announced the opening for applications or recommendations to the posts of presiding justice of the Court of Appeals (CA) and the Sandiganbayan.

Incumbent CA Presiding Justice Mariflor P. Castillo is set to retire compulsorily on Sept. 21, 2024, while Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje Tang’s retirement will be on Nov. 8, 2024.

The JBC said the deadline for the submission of applications or recommendations is at 4:30 p.m. on July 29, 2024.

The JBC is a constitutional office that accepts, screens, nominates appointments in the judiciary, the Legal Education Board, and in the offices of the Ombudsman, Deputy Ombudsman, and Special Prosecutor.

It is headed by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as ex-officio chairperson.
