8-year-old boy dies after falling into a creek in Caloocan

An eight-year-old boy was found dead after falling into the Pag-asa Creek in Barangay 176, Caloocan City on Tuesday, June 18.

The Caloocan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) received a call about the incident at around 2:25 p.m. on Monday, June 17.
The incident occurred during a heavy downpour and the children were playing with a concrete barrier nearby.

The children accidentally pushed the concrete barrier that caused them to hit a parked vehicle.
The boy then slipped into the creek.
The barangay watchmen checked the area but they were not able to find his body.

The CDRRMD immediately launched a search and rescue operation.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan ordered the CDRRMD and the city’s Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD) to conduct a search and rescue operation in the area and maintain a close communication with the victim's family.
The body was found near Saog Bridge in Marilao, Bulacan at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
