Two men were arrested for illegal possession of improvised firearm and a hand grenade during “Oplan Sita” that was conducted by members of the Pasay police Baclaran substation on Monday night, June 17.
The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspects, identified as alias Menmen, 29, and alias Jun, 44, were arrested at around 8:55p.m. along Barangay 148, Zone 26, Pasay City.
The police said members of the Baclaran substation were conducting “Oplan Sita” in the area when they spotted the suspects riding in tandem without helmets.
The SPD said police operatives flagged down the suspects for not wearing their helmets. However, the two tried to evade the police inspection by immediately making a U-turn.
The suspects were prevented by the police officers from escaping and upon verification, they found in the possession of alias Jun one improvised barrel pistol with one ammunition while Menmen was found to be in possession of a MK2 hand grenade placed inside a black sling bag.
The arrested suspects were turned over to the police headquarters for detention and charged for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and illegal possession of explosives.
