CEBU CITY—At least 10 teenagers belonging to a youth gang were arrested after they were involved in a rumble in Liloan town, northern Cebu at dawn on Sunday, June 16.

At least three minors were also rescued after the incident.

Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas chief Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, said charges will be filed against the 11 teenagers.

In a news forum on Tuesday, June 18, Pelare said the Liloan police conducted an investigation after the incident  made rounds on social media.

Police Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Liloan Police Station, said trouble broke out while the suspects and another group of teenagers were having a drinking session in Barangay Poblacion.

An argument over a girl started the fight.

Because of the argument, the victims decided to transfer to a karaoke bar but the suspects allegedly followed him there.

The victims alleged that they were about to leave the karaoke bar  when the suspects threw stones at them.

Some of the victims were allegedly punched by the suspects, who were later arrested in a follow-up police operation.

Police said charges for alarms and scandal will be filed against the suspects.

The rumble happened more than a month after a municipal-wide curfew was enforced in the town.

The curfew stemmed from a shooting incident that claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl last May 10.

The assailants belonged  to a youth gang. The suspects opened fire at the girl and her companions, who were drinking outside a convenience store at the time.
