PCG rescues 26 people from passenger ship in waters off Siquijor

Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 26 people from a passenger vessel that encountered engine trouble off the waters of Siquijor.
The passenger vessel, MV APEKOP 2, was traveling to Tagbilaran, Bohol when it encountered a fuel injection pump malfunction around one nautical mile from the port of Larena on June 15.
As a result, the passenger vessel was stranded in the area.
A team of PCG personnel was then sent to the area which resulted in the rescue of 26 people on board.
“The rescue operation, conducted under challenging conditions, resulted in the safe evacuation of 26 passengers and crew members, all of whom were in good physical condition,” the PCG said in a statement.
It said all the rescued passengers and crew were taken to theLarena Port while the vessel was towed to the same area for repair and maintenance.
