PAGASA issues thunderstorm advisory in Metro Manila, 5 other areas on June 17


Metro Manila and five other areas will experience heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds within the next two hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, June 17.

In the thunderstorm advisory issued at 10:56 a.m., PAGASA said moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, and Metro Manila.

PAGASA said these conditions are being experienced in Bataan (Morong, Bagac, Mariveles), Zambales (San Antonio), Cavite (Alfonso), Laguna (Nagcarlan, Liliw, Rizal, San Pablo), Quezon (Jomalig, Patnanungan), and Batangas (Nasugbu, Mataasnakahoy, Balete, Malvar), which may persist within two hours and may "affect nearby areas."

"All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards, which include flash floods and landslides," PAGASA said.

Individuals in affected areas were advised to keep monitoring for updates.
