Man dies after bus collides with motorcycle

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A man died after a bus collided with his motorcycle on the national highway in Barangay San Pablo, Santo Domingo, this province, on Sunday, June 16.

Police identified the victim as Roberto Viesta, 40, a resident of Barangay Sunggiam, San Juan, Ilocos Sur.

Investigation said the bus driven by Joan V. Sonico, 48, of Barangay Catucdaan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, suddenly occupied Viesta’s lane, resulting in a collision.

Viesta sustained serious injuries and was declared dead in a hospital in nearby Magsingal town.

Sonico is under police and faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.

Police Capt. Joseph Fieldad, Santo Domingo chief of police, reminded the people to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations and always be a defensive driver on the road to avoid accidents.
