Korean arrested for estafa in Pasay


A Korean national was arrested for estafa in Pasay City on Friday, June 14.

Pasay City Police Chief Col. Samuel Pabonita identified the suspect as alias Jungmin, 39, resident of Solemare Parksuites, Branco Avenue, Parañaque City.

Pabonita said the suspect accomplice identified as alias Jungwoo, 31, resident of Bay Shore 2, Parañaque City, was able to elude the arrest and is now being hunted.

He said the suspect was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. at Six Senses Residence located along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay City.

The city police chief said alias Davin filed a complaint to Pasay Police Substation 10 claiming that he was cheated by the suspects.

Davin told police that he and the suspects engaged in a currency exchange transaction amounting to P6,000,000.

The victim told police that after receiving the money, the suspects provided him a bank transfer receipt that indicates completion of transaction.

The police said the victim discovered upon verification that it was a fake transaction.

The victim upon learning that he was duped by the suspects immediately confronted them and brought Jungmin at Pasay Police Substation 10 for filing of estafa case while Jungwoo was able to fled.
