Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said two suspected smugglers were arrested during the operation – Art, 54, and Lilia, 31, residents of Madrid town.

Confiscated from the suspects were 3,006 reams of smuggled cigarettes valued at P134,200.

Nazarro said cases for violating Republic Act No. 4712 or the An Act Amending Certain Sections of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines will be filed against the suspects.

The campaign against cigarette smuggling won’t waver, Nazarro said.

“We do not tolerate these illicit trades of cigarettes in our region, he said.

Nazarro ordered the PRO-13 to further step up their campaign against smuggling. We are persistent in our efforts to battle all sorts of smuggling activities,” he said.
