Man beats mother to death with shovel

SARIAYA, Quezon – A 27-year-old man allegedly beat his 49-year-old mother to death with a shovel in their house in Purok 3, Barangay Sampaloc 1, this town, on Friday evening, June 14.

A MAN allegedly beat his mother to death with a shovel in Sariaya, Quezon on Friday, June 14.

Police identified the victim as Mercy.

Investigation said Mercy was sleeping when she was struck several times by her son at around 10:15 p.m. in the head.

Mercy was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead by Dr. Ferdinand de los Santos.

The suspect, who allegedly has a mental disorder, was arrested by barangay tanods or watchmen and turned over to the police.

Police are preparing a parricide case against the suspect.
