5 hurt as truck turns on its side in Ilocos Norte

BANGUI, Ilocos Norte – Five persons were injured after their truck turned on its side in Barangay Baruyen here on Friday evening, June 14.

Police identified the victims as Edwin Morales, 54, driver; Cedrick Andaya, 25, helper; Aurora Castro, 65, truck owner; passenger Rafael Sera, 11; and Alfredo Idio, 46, helper, all residents of Barangay Pias, Mapandan, Pangasinan.

Investigation said Morales tried to shift to low gear on a descending part of the road but lost control of the vehicle.

The truck turned on its side and its occupants sustained injuries. They were taken to the Bangui District Hospital and were later transferred to a hospital in Batac City, this province, for further treatment.
