Pornan said that 34 passengers were teachers from Paglaum Village Elementary School here who came from a team building in Sipaway Island in San Carlos City and were on their way home to this city.

Police said the bus reportedly encountered brake failure while approaching the curve part of the road on Kilometer 40 and 41.

The 59-year-old bus driver lost control of the bus and turned on its side.

Pornan said that eight passengers were slightly injured, 15 were less critical, while 11 others were critical.

Twenty-three were confined at Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, eight at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), and three others in a hospital here.

Pornan said the bus driver was unharmed. He was subjected to further investigation.
