'Paulit-ulit!' No validated 'ouster plot' vs Marcos, reiterates PNP

There is no serious security threat in the country right now, and even the rumored destabilization plots against President Marcos Jr. are considered hearsay only by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Police Colonel Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, said the claims that there are efforts to unseat the President has been “repetitive” already.
“[P]aulit-ulit ito. Alam natin kahit sinong presidente ay mayroon tayong palaging pumuputok na destabilization plot as early as last year. Even a few years ago ay mayroon tayong naririnig (This has been repetitive. We all know that whoever becomes the president, we always hear about alleged destabilization plot as early as last year. Even a few years ago, there are rumors like that),” Fajardo said.
The latest of such rumor circulating online reportedly involved a collusion between the loyalists of former president Rodrigo Duterte and communist insurgents to remove Marcos from Malacanang and be replaced by the former’s president’s daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.
Accordingly, the supposed destabilization plot is being planned ahead of the arrival to the country of investigators from the International Criminal Court (ICC) probing alleged abuses during Duterte’s so-called drug war, which has killed thousands of drug suspects.
PNP chief, Police General Rommel Marbil ordered the validation of the claims.
“As of now, no less than our Chief PNP told us during our D-Staff Conference that we have not monitored any serious threat to the security of our country, even those destabilization plots are just rumors,” Fajardo said.
The PNP reminded the public to be circumspect in dealing with information they get online as not all of them are factual.
“We have to remind again everyone not to believe everything they see and read on social media. But just the same, if these things involve security, whether external or internal, the PNP does not dismiss them right away,” Fajardo said.
“Our coordination with our counterparts is continuous to validate and confirm these information. It’s just that as of now, there are no monitored threats, no mobilization and instigation whatsoever,” she added.
