PAGASA records 'extreme danger' heat index in Quezon province on June 14

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported an "extreme danger" heat index level in Infanta, Quezon, on Friday, June 14.

The heat index in the said area was 52 degrees Celsius (°C) on Friday, slightly lower than the highest heat index recorded this year of 55°C on May 26 and 28 in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA said a heat index above 52°C indicates “extreme danger” as “heat stroke is imminent.”
On June 14, 30 areas had heat indices in the “danger” category, ranging from 42°C to 48°C.
The state weather bureau recorded a heat index of 48°C in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan followed by 47°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Aparri, Cagayan.

Calayan, Cagayan; Baler (Radar), Aurora; Casiguran, Aurora; Daet, Camarines Norte; and Virac (Synop), Catanduanes had a 46°C heat index while 45°C in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Pasay City, Metro Manila; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; ISU Echague, Isabela; and Catarman, Northern Samar.
PAGASA added that Sinait, Ilocos Sur; CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Sangley Point, Cavite; Legazpi City, Albay; and Masbate City, Masbate 44°C was felt.
MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; Iba, Zambales; Abucay, Bataan; and Tacloban City, Leyte 43°C was the heat index measurement.
Science Garden Quezon City, Metro Manila; Itbayat, Batanes; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Alabat, Quezon; Roxas City, Capiz; and Catbalogan, Samar had a 42°C heat index.
