Ex-envoy emerges as FIABCI 'Property Man of the Year'
Proving that 'building better lives is not just a slogan'

Former Presidential Envoy to Japan for Business and Investment Promotion, Dr. Reghis M. Romero II, has called on Filipinos to confront the environmental, economic, and geopolitical challenges facing the country and the broader Southeast Asian and East Asian regions.
Dr. Romero II made this statement while accepting the "Property Man of the Year" award from the Philippine chapter of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) at a recent event held at the historic Manila Hotel.
He shared this prestigious award with JG Summit Holdings President Lance Yu Gokongwei, recognizing their significant contributions to national development through their real estate and property development projects.
Dr. Romero II chairs RMR Capital, Inc., whose flagship subsidiary, R-II Builders, along with various sister firms, engages in housing and property ventures, including supporting infrastructure for environmental and community development.
This accolade marks Dr. Romero II's 36 years of active involvement in the real estate and property industry. He has served in various capacities, including developer, builder, contractor, and support infrastructure solutions provider.
His journey began on September 8, 1988, when he founded R-II Builders, Inc. amidst economic instability due to coup attempts, foreign debt, an energy crisis, and brain drain. Despite these challenges, Dr. Romero II attributes his success to his commitment to making a difference in the industry, economy, and people's lives through unity and synergy within his company's operations.
This philosophy has underpinned R-II Builders' growth into a widely diversified conglomerate. "Building better lives is not just a slogan. It is our company DNA that has been with us from the start," Dr. Romero II emphasized.
Currently, R-II Builders boasts a large and expanding portfolio of projects across the Philippines, worth billions and serving various sectors of the property market. Subsidiaries and sister firms of R-II Builders have also achieved notable success. Philippine Ecology Systems manages Metro Manila's solid waste disposal and sewerage projects. R Land Development, Inc. oversees multiple projects, including the 53-hectare Heroes Town in Trece Martires City, the 9.3-hectare Arcoe Residences in Lipa City, Arcoe Estates in Angeles City, and a residential-commercial project in Taguig City.
Additionally, Harbour Centre Port Terminal, Inc. operates the Subic Port and aims to replicate its success at HCPT-Manila. Other firms like Ecotoll Road Development Corporation, Aerorail Integrated Transport and Services, Inc., and Mega Harbour Port and Development, Inc. address various infrastructure development needs.
These projects represent a substantial investment, demonstrating the synergy and unity within RMR Capital's specialized and diversified subsidiaries, epitomizing what it means to be a "Property Man of the Year."
