MG Philippines unveils MG3 hybrid and G50 Plus MPV

Big and small mobility solutions


MG Philippines offers car buyers two unique ways to get around with the twin unveiling of their two new models, the MG3 and G50 MPV. These small and large vehicles bookend the MG lineup whether the buyer is looking for a small city car or a family mover.

First unveiled was the MG3, a B-segment hatchback designed to offer value not just with its price, but also styling and efficiency.

The hatchback bears sporty design with its sportscar inspired hood and broad lower intake. It rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels and pairs it with a leather-style interior and a large 10.25-inch infotainment screen.

It also comes with a wider array of colors beyond the usual boring white and black. The MG3 can be had in St. Moritz Blue, Extreme Speed Red, Morning Yellow, or Blade Silver.

Powering the MG3 is a choice of either a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) or hybrid electric powertrain. The ICE features a 1.5-liter engine that makes 120-PS and 150-Nm of torque with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

The hybrid variant produces significantly more power, as much as 190-PS and 250-Nm of torque. This makes the MG3 the first in its class to come with a hybrid option and all the benefits that come with it. The dedicated hybrid engine uses a range of advanced technologies and an ultra-efficient 3-speed hybrid transmission that intuitively delivering the best combination of electric and petrol for maximum power and efficiency.

The MG3 also comes with modern convenience and top-of-the-line safety features. These include reverse parking sensors, an electric parking brake, four-wheel disc brakes, and a 360-degree-view camera.

The MG3 comes equipped with MG’s Pilot Advance Driver Assist System. It’s a combination of driver assist and safety systems with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, pre-collision warning, and many more. 

Best of all, the vehicle comes in four competitively priced variants. Prices start at P678,888 for the STD MT, P828,888 for the COM CVT; P898,888 for the LUX CVT; and P1,088,888 for the Hybrid+ CVT.

MG G50 Plus

Those that need a larger vehicle for their family might be more interested in the G50 Plus. Designed for families and large groups, the MPV aims to offer space and comfort for more at a competitive price.

The G50 Plus is a three row MPV that can seat 7-8 passengers while returning a comfortable ride and the latest features.

Stepping into the MPV reveals an eight-seater configuration with a 2+3+3 layout. This provides a generous interior with ample room that does not sacrifice comfort. The top-of-the-line LUX variant on the other hand features a 7-seater configuration layout highlighted with two captain seats in the second row and a full leather-style interior.

Long rides are its specialty as the vehicle comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker sound system, making every journey enjoyable for both friends and families.

The G50 Plus will easily take on a full load of people thanks to the 1.5-liter turbo engine churning out 181-PS of power and 280-Nm of torque. There’s also a choice between a six-speed automatic or a seven-speed “wet-type” dual-clutch transmission.

Safety is also fully loaded with standard features like an anti-lock brake system, hill hold control on automatic transmission models, electronic stability program, and many more that complement the standard-issue parking sensors, reverse camera, cruise control, EPB with auto brake hold, and a push-button ignition system.

The MG G50 Plus starts at P1,048,888 for the STD MT, P1,188,888 for the COM DCT, and P1,288,888 for the LUX DCT.
