Farmer dies after being hit by truck in Quezon

CALAUAG, Quezon – A 74-year-old farmer died after he was rammed by a truck while walking on the roadside on the Maharlika Highway before dawn on Thursday, June 13, in Barangay Viñas, this town.

Police identified the victim as Elpidio Dayao, a resident of Barangay Viñas.

Investigation said Dolfo, the driver of the truck, was dazzled by the bright lights of oncoming vehicles and did not notice the victim walking on the roadside.

Dolfo saw the victim and applied precautionary brake but it was too late.

The truck hit the victim who sustained head and body injuries.

He was taken to the Calauag Municipal Infirmary Hospital where he was declared dead.

Dolfo is in the custody of the police and faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
