Aumentado recently led the turnover of a newly constructed house to a family in Tagbilaran City, Bohol as part of his “Balay sa Paglaum” (House of Hope) advocacy.
The family of Floro Baliog Sr. in Purok 2, Manga District, is the 19th beneficiary of Aumentado’s housing project in partnership with the Bohol Provincial Police Office’s (BPPO) Libreng Alagad ug Balay project.
Baliog recalled going to the office of Aumentado to seek help and initially thought he would go home disheartened.
“I initially approached the governor to ask for a financial so could build even just a small house,” said Baliog. “He told me ‘sorry I cannot give you something for that,’” Baliog recalled.
Baliog was about to leave when the governor called him back. “I was about to leave when the governor told me, ‘You are too sensitive. I cannot give you something for a shanty but I can help you build a decent house.’ I was shocked and overjoyed upon hearing it. In less than a week, policemen went to my place for the start of the construction of our new house. I am very thankful to the governor, his wife, and Mayor Jane (Yap),” said Baliog.
Also present during the turnover ceremony was Tagbilaran Mayor Jane Yap.
“Tatay Floro, you are very lucky because of the 105,000 Tagbilaranons, you were the one who was chosen to receive this new house,” said Yap.
BPPO chief Police Col. Lorenzo Batuan and Bohol Vice Gov. Victor Balite also attended the turnover ceremony.
Aumentado is hoping that more Boholanos will benefit from the free housing advocacy.
The governor and his wife, Bohol Rep. Vanessa Aumentado, have been using personal resources to fund the project.
“This my and Congresswoman Van-van’s commitment. To help and give joy to the people who badly need a decent house to live in,” said Aumentado.
Aumentado assured that more help will be given to the underprivileged. “There are still a lot of people who need help. Together with Mayo Jane, we will slowly help them,” said the governor.
He urged those who have the resources to join him in the noble cause. “Share your blessings, share your love because the more you give, the more you will receive,” said Aumentado.
