The Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) announced on Thursday, June 13, that it has sustained its performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2024, maintaining its place in the 201-300 bracket for the second consecutive year.
Ateneo said that it continued to lead among Philippine universities in real-world impact, according to the THE Impact Rankings released by the Times Higher Education group on June 12.
THE ranks higher education institutions worldwide based on their real-world impact as measured by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ateneo also placed in the 201-300 bracket in the 2023 and 2021 editions.
"The University's best performance so far was in 2022 when it entered the 101-200 bracket," Ateneo noted.
Throughout its participation, Ateneo has been the "top Philippine institution" in the Impact Rankings.
This year, 56 institutions from the Philippines participated.
A total of 2,152 institutions globally were included in this year's table.
Citing THE, Ateneo said the core of the rankings is the UN SDGs.First set in 2015 to achieve “a better and more sustainable future for all,” the SDGs are 17 interlinked aims that constitute an “urgent call for action by all countries—developed and developing—in a global partnership.”
By excelling in a variety of SDGs, THE explained these universities "showcase their commitment to addressing the world's most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth, and partnerships."
