The local government of Pasay City opened the Social Development Center, a reception hub for families and individuals in street situation (FISS), last June 10.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, together with members of the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO), attended the blessing of the center located at Sun Valley Drive, NAIA, Pasay City .
Rubiano said the reception hub will be used as a temporary shelter for the rescued FISS while they are undergoing interview and assessment for the assistance they need to prevent them from going back to the streets.
She said the rescued families or individuals were provided with free foods, medicine and other basic needs while staying at the reception hub. They were also given counseling, skills training, medical, financial and livelihood assistance.
The mayor also said the city government will shoulder the fare of those who want to go back to their provinces, and contact the relatives of those who want to go back to their families; give them referrals for employment and other support and services from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The construction of the reception hub is in line with DSWD's “Oplan Pag-Abot” program.
