The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) disclosed Wednesday, June 12, that it will build a new station in San Simon, Pampanga to enhance the coastal security in the province.
CG Vice Admiral Roy Echeverria, commander of Coast Guard Marine Environmental Protection Command (CGMEPCOM), said the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Pampanga will be established at a 2,000-square meter lot within the government center of San Simon.
It will host at least 50 PCG personnel who will be tasked to implement coastal security and improve rescue operations in the province.
A ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of the new station was held last week which was graced by Echeverria and Pampanga Fourth Congressional District Representative, Dr. Anna York Bondoc. The PCG did not provide details for the timeline of the construction.
Bondoc assisted in providing P8 million to fund the infrastructure project in the province, according to the Coast Guard District National Capital Region - Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL)
Bondoc emphasized that the new PCG station will “significantly contribute to promoting peace and order.”
She also advocated the establishment of PCG satellite offices at her district’s eight towns to enhance community safety and attract more businesses investments.
