'Missing you a lot, Papa': Muntinlupa mayor remembers late father Sen. Biazon on his 1st death anniversary
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon marked the first death anniversary of his father, former senator Rodolfo Biazon, on June 12.
Biazon passed away on June 12, Independence Day, last year after being diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2022 and hospitalized for pneumonia. He was 88.

“Today marks one year since Papa passed away. Ang hirap paniwalaan na isang taon na ang lumipas. Up to this day, he continues to inspire me and our family,” Mayor Biazon posted on Facebook.
He added, “From a working student to a 4-star General and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Papa dedicated more than 34 years of his life to defending our country. He also served as a Senator for three terms and a Congressman for two terms, always showing honor and heroism.”
“I often think about our conversations, where we talked about life, family, and the country’s future. Those moments were always inspiring and full of wisdom. Missing you a lot, Papa,” the mayor said.
In another post, he said, “One year na, Papa. Remembering you on the day you left us, on a day that we celebrate our country's independence and freedom which you defended and fought for most of your life. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”
In an announcement on June 12 last year, Mayor Biazon said, “He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2022 and underwent the appropriate treatment. This year, however, he caught pneumonia twice, the second being more serious than the first which had further weakened his lungs,”
The former senator also served as Muntinlupa congressman from 2010 to 2016. He was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on June 20 last year.
