He cried as he hugged fellow soldiers under his unit at the discharge ceremony.
BTS members RM, J-Hope, V, Jungkook, and Jimin, except for Suga, came to welcome him outside the camp. RM greeted Jin by playing their song “Dynamite” using a saxophone.
In a Weverse live broadcast after his discharge, Jin said, “I did very well in the military.”
“It’s been a long time since I last greeted you. This is Jin from BTS. I’m back after one year and six months. It’s been a long time since I stood in front of a camera, so I don’t know what to say,” he said.

He narrated that "I originally didn't want to cry, but I was so happy that I cried twice."
“My friends who I lived with for one year and six months were crying as they let me go. I was able to create a good atmosphere in the company by bringing together the officers and soldiers well,” he said.
Jin said during his military service, he received about two to three division commander-level awards, and seven to eight battalion commander-level commendations, including the Army Bravery Award.
He enlisted on Dec. 13, 2022, the first BTS member to do so, and the first member to finish military service, a mandatory duty for Korean men.
On June 13, Jin will meet 1,000 BTS ARMYs (fans) during a hug session.
"I insisted that I wanted to give 'free hugs,' but (the agency) said it could be dangerous, so we proceeded to give hugs to the winners,” he explained.
He added, “The company and I prepared this with a good heart, as it started with the desire to hug the many fans who have waited for me for an incredible one year and six months, so I hope you will accept it with that mindset.”
The next to be discharged from the military is J-Hope who enlisted on April 18, 2023 and will finish his service on Oct. 17 this year.
