2 dead, 5 hurt in bus-tanker collision in Camarines Sur


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay -- Two persons died and five others were injured in a collision between a  tanker and a  bus on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Flordeliz, Milaor, Camarines Sur  early Thursday morning, June 13.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office- 5, identified one of the fatalities as Reynaldo Geronilla, 55, of Barangay Villa Flores, Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.

"The driver of the tanker truck fell on the middle of the road which caused his instantaneous death while one of the passengers of the bus also died on the spot and multiple wounded persons were brought by the responding MDRRMO ambulance to the nearest hospital," Calubaquib said.

Police said  the tanker was traveling from San Fernando, Camarines Sur to Albay province when it encroached and collided head-on with the Philtranco bus.

Rescuers took five injured bus passengers to the Bicol Medical Center (MBC) in Naga City.

Investigation is ongoing as of posting time.
