A total of P895,250,000 financial aid was extended to the qualified uniformed personnel and their beneficiaries since 2016 under the “Pagpupugay sa mga Bayani ng Bansang Makabayan,’’ a program which recognizes the heroism and sacrifice of the men in uniform.

DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur’’ Abalos Jr. joined First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos in the awarding of Comprehensive Social Benefits Program (CBSP) and in extending gratitude to the recipients in Mabalacat, Pampanga last June 10.

For shelter assistance, a total of 63 Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and 60 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel and beneficiaries were granted a maximum cash assistance of P450,000 for housing construction, for a total of P55,335,000.

Two additional AFP beneficiaries received P100,000 each in cash assistance for house construction, bringing the total amount granted to P55,535,000.

“Collectively, 199 scholars benefited from the program's educational assistance component. Of these, 102 are sons and daughters of police personnel who were killed in police operations, and 97 are from the armed forces,’’ the DILG said.

Similarly, the DILG noted that 528 AFP and 180 PNP beneficiaries received employment assistance from the government under the program.

The DILG explained that the CBSP provides assistance to AFP and PNP personnel who are killed or wounded in action on legitimate operations from July 1, 2016 onwards.

Further, the DILG stated that the program also covers uniformed personnel from the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), who were killed or injured while performing their duties in legitimate operations.
