As it embarks on another year of celebrating the exceptional works of the local film industry, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) proudly unveiled the nominees for the 40th Star Awards for Movies.

Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos (When I Met You In Tokyo), Megastar Sharon Cuneta (Family Of Two), Diamond Star Maricel Soriano (In His Mother's Eyes), and Superstar Nora Aunor (Pieta) are competing for Movie Actress of the Year award.

Gina Alajar (Monday First Screening), Ai-Ai de las Alas (Litrato), Alessandra De Rossi (What If), Gladys Reyes (Apag), Kathryn Bernardo (A Very Good Girl), and Marian Rivera (Rewind) are also competing in the same category.

Meanwhile, Liza Lorena will receive the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award, movie producer Vic del Rosario Jr. for Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award, and Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera ("Rewind") for Takilya King and Queen.

The 40th Star Awards for Movies will be directed by Maribeth Bichara under Tess Celestino-Howard’s Airtime Marketing.
