10 hurt in truck-van collision in Quezon

PAGBILAO, Quezon – Ten people were injured and a house was damaged following a collision between a van and truck on Tuesday morning, June 11, in Barangay Ibabang Palsabangon here.

Police identified the victims as Christopher Paquiz, van driver; and passengers Rico Esparago, 56; Jeremy Vergara, 22; Claire, 16; Joshkell David, 22; Mon Palma, 29; Charmaine Escobal, 31; Maria Arlina Esparago, 86; Maria Paz Escobal, 62, and a 14-year-old girl, and Liberato Ayaay, 61, barangay councilor and house owner.

Victims were passengers of a Nissan Urvan NV350 with license plates NAA-2219 driven by Paquiz.

Police said the Isuzu wing van truck with license plates NGB-1144 driven by Alfonso Conag was on its way to Manila from the Bicol region when it occupied the van’s lane in a curve portion of the road.

The truck bumped the van’s front then crashed into the house of Ayaay.

Rescuers took the victims to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
