Binay and Davao de Oro Provincial Treasurer Grace Quintana met at the City Hall for the turnover of the check.

The city government has allocated a total of P2,250,000 financial aid for its latest batch of financial aid recipients which also includes the municipality of Kapalong, Davao del Norte;  municipality of Caraga, Davao Oriental; and municipality of Lupon, Davao Oriental.

Binay said the three municipalities have suffered from the adverse effects of both the shear line and tropical cyclone Kabayan late last year. Kapalong and Caraga are set to receive P500,000 each, while Lupon will receive P250,000.

"We know they need all the help they can get to recover from the damage caused by severe weather events. Through financial support, we hope to alleviate some of the burdens of fellow local government units in recovery and rehabilitation,” Binay said.

Aside from financial aid, the mayor said Makati is also willing to accommodate local government units (LGUs) that want to engage in knowledge exchange and benchmarking activities with the city government.

“We are ready to share our sound practices in various aspects of governance, including disaster risk reduction and management, to help other localities bounce back better and become more climate-resilient," she said.

Since the first term of Mayor Abby, it has been her priority to extend help to disaster-stricken localities in the country.

From 2016 to the present, the city has donated a total of  P168.55 million in financial assistance to 283 cities, municipalities, and provinces.
