ILOILO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways thanked the Iloilo City government and Mayor Jerry Treñas despite the harsh criticisms it has received from the city chief executive.

“On behalf of DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Operations Roberto R. Bernardo, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Iloilo City government and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas,” the DPWH-Western Visayas said.
“Your generosity in allowing the DPWH-Iloilo City to utilize the city government’s property as its office venue for many years has been instrumental to our operations and public service,” it added.
The DPWH thanked Treñas following his weekend tirades even after the DPWH-Iloilo City vacated its office following an eviction order from the city government.
The DPWH thanked Treñas for donating the land for the DPWH’s permanent site in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo District.
Treñas had declard Engr. Roy Pacanan, DPWH-Iloilo City officer-in-charge, as persona non-grata.
The mayor accused DPWH-Iloilo City of implementing “white elephant” projects and projects that have no proper government permits.
Treñas cancelled permits of all DPWH projects in Iloilo City, the regional capital of Western Visayas.
