P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon says Filipino children are better off spending more time on math and literary than learning a new "pledge".
Thus, said Guanzon in an X post Monday morning, June 10, as more and more people reacted to President Marcos' Memorandum Circular (MC) No.52.
Through MC No.52, Malacañang directed all national government agencies and state universities and colleges (SUC) to recite the "Bagong Pilipinas Hymn and Pledge" during weekly flag ceremonies.
"Bagong panata na naman ? Kawawang mga bata sa public elementary schools at high school," read Guanzon's post.
(Another pledge? I pity the children in public elementary schools and high school.)
"@DepEd_PH brainwashing ba yan? Mag double time kayo sa literacy at math. Numbrr 1 na tayo sa lowest. Kulelat na Pilipinas! #mgainutil " she added.
(@DepEd_PH is this brainwashing? You should work double time on teaching kids literacy and math. We are the number 1 lowest. The Philippines is lagging behind! #mgainutil)
Bagong Pilipinas is essentially the branding of the current administration under President Marcos.
Guazon supported Marcos rival and former vice president Leni Robredo during and May 2022 presidential race. Robredo ended up as a far second to Marcos.
