Curvilinear and minimalist styles of furniture are becoming popular due to their soft, flowing lines and organic shapes, while still being simple and functional. Studiomoodism is following this trend by creating its own collection of furniture in these styles, offering designs that create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere in living spaces.

Based in Pampanga, the brand started in 2020 and is managed by Michael Villardo, the creative director and CEO of Studiomoodism. Besides the furniture firm, he also manages Spacelift, a design studio offering architectural design, interior design, construction, and modular cabinetry.

“Being a creative director of a design studio, I saw the need for customized furniture that is required for most of our projects. Given a background in manufacturing and engineering, combined with a love for good design, I was able to set up a factory in Mabalacat, Pampanga, offering bespoke furniture pieces handcrafted by our artisans and craftsmen, which Pampanga is well known for,” Villardo shared.

The collections are inspired by Villardo’s interest in Mid-Century Modern design, which he then incorporates curvilinear forms, offering "a timeless appeal that combines functionality and aesthetics in interior furnishings." Its furniture is made with high density polyurethane foam, to provide more comfort and longevity.

Its 2022 collection includes Elefantesse, Astrid, Nova Luna, and Seraphim. In addition, the 2023 collection features Archon, Balustre, Pasteleria, Monna, Mousseron, Tektons, Terra, and the Barn series. They also offer customization to cater to the needs of their clients. Villardo takes pride in his Pastelaria and Barn collections the most, as they showcase his visions coming to life.

“The Pastelaria collection is something to be proud of, not only for how the design pieces came to life but also for incorporating these Filipino delicacies which I am fond of eating, like lengua de gato and broas. The Barn collection, influenced by animals, was fun to create as well. It started as just a concept, and I liked how it turned out, bringing life to a concept that deserves center stage in any space.”

With the company being fairly new, Villardo is satisfied with his work, but is still eager to design more furniture, dedicated to pursuing his goals. “As for me, I haven’t really achieved what I want for Studiomoodism yet, but I have created designs that deserve center stage not only locally, where I exhibit our designs at PIFS and Manila Fame, but hopefully abroad in the future.”
